Biography:
I studied Medicine (March 1996 – February 2002, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul) and further specialized as a psychiatrist (March 2003 – April 2005, Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre) in Brazil. I left my already settled private practice (February 2005 – November 2005, Porto Alegre) to learn the methodology of fMRI to Germany, which was extended to a doctorate (April 2006 – March 2010, University of Heidelberg) and two post-doctorates in this field of research (April 2010 – April 2012, Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, Munich / May 2012 – Jan 2016, University Medical Center Göttingen).
Since 2016 my research group (Systems Neuroscience and Imaging in Psychiatry, www.psychiatrie.med.uni-goettingen.de/de/content/forschung/sniplab.html) focus on multimodal imaging for tracking neural networks and their dynamic changes in response to pharmacological and brain stimulation interventions. We use fMRI as a tool to elucidate underlying mechanisms that could contribute to the biologically-oriented diagnosis of psychiatric disorders, especially affective disorders, and more precise treatments.
